It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Janet Rafuse on Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility.
Born in Stellarton, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Mary Jane Rutledge.
Janet enjoyed knitting, baking and cooking, and spending time with her family.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Janet is survived by her sons Ralph (Margie) Rafuse and Chester Rafuse, both of Fourchu; 12 grandchildren, Scott Rafuse, Suzann MacLeod, Rachel Rafuse, Linda Rafuse-McCarthy, Melissa MacLeod, Bradley Rafuse, Brent Rafuse, Lorilee Pezzareallo, Albert Sampson, Wint Sampson, Louise Lansdowne, Lisa Velle; as well as her 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law June Rutledge at Richmond Villa, St. Peter’s; and daughter-in-law Faye Rafuse, Sydney.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Wellington Rafuse; daughter Mildred; son Milton; grandson Robert Sampson.
Visitation will be held Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at Chant’s Funeral Home Chapel, with DLM Nancy Whitney officiating. Interment to follow in Little Hill Cemetery, Fourchu.
