Alfred 'Freddy' Baptiste Duprey

Born In: New Waterford, Nova Scotia, Canada
Born: December 11th, 1965

Passed in: Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Freddy was born in New Waterford and at an early age moved to Mira, Cape Breton, N.S., and graduated from Riverview Rural High School in 1984.
He went on to attend UCCB where he attained his Bachelor of Community Studies. He continued his education at St. Anne’s University where he completed his education degree in French. In 1999, he graduated from the University of Moncton with his law degree in French.
Upon the completion of his education degree, he and his wife Sheila moved their family to Barrie, Ont., where he taught for a year in Alcona as he was completing his Ontario Bar Exams. From 2000 to 2002, he worked as a lawyer in Barrie, after which he worked in Whitby as an assistant crown attorney and spent the last eight years in Toronto as an assistant crown attorney with the Triple X Team and the coroner’s office.
He was the adored son of Marie Aitken and the late Alfred Duprey.
Freddie was the beloved husband of Sheila Marie (Currie) Duprey and their six precious children, Emma (15), Molly (13), Katie (11), Samuel (9), Maggie (4) and Peggy (23 months). He will be forever remembered by his brothers, Raymond (Barb) Duprey and Gordie Aitken, and his loving sisters, Cathy (James) Hennessy and Elaine (Aitken) Dalton; his treasured nieces and nephews, Jamie and Aimee Hennessy, Adam Enders and Alyssa Dalton. He will be sorrowfully missed by countless other family and friends who were blessed to have known him.
One of Fred’s greatest pleasures was spending time actively doing things with his family, and with his many friends. In his spare time Fred enjoyed biking, swimming, playing hockey, doing home improvements as his family’s “master carpenter” and walking his devoted dog, Sydney. Fred was an active member of the parish council for All Saints Parish. During his lifetime, he was an active supporter of Junior Diabetes and the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and he coached minor league baseball, hockey and soccer for his children’s teams. Fred touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity. He will forever be remembered for his sparkling blue eyes and smiling face that shone with mischief and humour as he lovingly and proudly told his latest hilarious story about his many family adventures.
Visitation for the late Mr. Duprey will be held 2 -4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18 at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. A funeral mass will be held Thursday, Jan. 19 at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Rev. Norman MacPhee officiating.
Any donations can be made to the Junior Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
