James Pettigrew

James D.W. "Jimmy" Pettigrew, 68 years of age, of Joggins, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late John & Ruby (Proctor) Pettigrew.
He loved fishing, hunting and mechanic work. He could always be found working on a vehicle day and night. Always willing to lend a hand and help out his neighbors.
Jimmy will be sadly missed by his daughters; Sherry Cardinal (Robin) of Joggins, NS, Margaret Small (Denis) of Coldlake AB, Carol McCutcheon (John), Donna Berman (Norm), Shirley McCutcheon, Sharon Luma (Paul) Elizabeth Fry (Bill) all of London, ON; long time friend, Sandra Coll & her son, Robert Coll ; sisters, Hilda Atkinson (George) of Truemanville, NS, Rona Rector (Stanley) of Joggins, Dorothy Best (Bill) of Parrsboro, NS, Pamela Allen (Andy) of Wallace, NS, Loretta Atkinson (Lawrence Willigar) of Westbrook, NS, Carla Steves (Denis) of NB, Velda MacDonald (Paul Conway) of AB; brothers, Terry Pettigrew (Madeline) of London, ON, Eric Young (Shirley Collins) of Amherst, NS, David Young (Lois) of Parrsboro, NS, Donald Young (Monique) of Amherst, NS, Freddie Young (Pam) of New Ross, NS, Bernie Richards of Dartmouth, NS; 15 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Helen, daughter in infancy, Shelly.
Jimmy's remains have been entrusted to Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St. Amherst, N.S. where the family will receive visitors on Monday, January 16, 2012 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Furlong-Jones Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Charlotte Youland officiating. Burial will take place in the West Brook Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association.
