It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, sadly announce the peaceful passing of our wonderful mother Hazel Janet Andrews at The Cove Guest Home on Friday, Nov. 27, 2009.
Born in Sydney, Hazel was the daughter of the late Herbert and Janet Ripley.
She was the longtime resident of Cottage Road and a member of First United Church.
She was a kind and loving person who was dedicated to her family. She especially enjoyed cooking and baking while finding time to knit and sew. All who entered her home were warmly welcomed. We, her children will always remember our mother’s kind nature, good sense of humor and willingness to have fun with our families.
Hazel is survived by her son, Watson (Cathy) Andrews, Sydney River; and daughter, Avril (Greg) Delaney, Sydney. Also surviving is her sister, Edie MacLeod, Sydney. She is survived by her precious grandchildren, Todd (Maralyn) Delaney, Lori (Blair) Sampson and Steven, Jaime and Donald Andrews. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren, Jordan, Hannah, Riley, Shamus, Maria, Ryan and Jaelyn; and by many nieces and nephews.
Hazel was predeceased by her husband, Sandy Andrews, sisters, Zeta, Edna, Ethel, Beatie and brothers, Laun and Lewis.
Visitation will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel, Monday, Nov. 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will take place Tuesday, Dec. 1 at 2 p.m at Sydney Memorial Chapel. Interment at Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
