WELSFORD – Clarence Benvie Bigney, 81, of Welsford passed away peacefully on November 28, 2009, at the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche.
Born in Welsford, he was the son of the late Tom and Hazel (MacIntosh) Bigney.
Benvie was a farmer, construction worker and fisherman during his working life.
He loved music and especially loved to dance.
Benvie is survived by daughters, Mary (Fred) Robinson, Pictou; Florence (Scott) Hayden, Lourdes; Mae (Wayne) McDavid, Stellarton; and Lois (Colin) Johnston; Thorburn; grandchildren, David, Allison, Chantelle, Jennell, Richard, Kerri, Judd, great-grandchildren, Nathaniel and Dylan, sisters, Eileen Falconer, Pictou; Margaret (Gerald) Jollimore, Welsford; several nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou, from where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Ches Boutlier officiating.
Burial will be in West Branch Cemetery at a later date.
Family flowers only, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society.
