CORMIER, LOUISE - Louise Cormier, 92, formerly of Dominion St, Moncton, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre. Born in Memramcook on August 25, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Alyre Maxime and Adéline (LeBlanc) Cormier. Louise was a homemaker all her life where she kept boarders on Dominion Street known as the “boarding house”. Thousands of people were accommodated there from 1930 to the mid 1980’s. She was an expert quilter of blankets and many marvelled at her workmanship. Being an avid card player, she never gave up the chance of playing a game of 200. She was a very good ballroom dancer and instructor when asked to do so. She was a member of Christ-Roi parish and a member of the Golden Age Club. She travelled quite a few times to California to visit her cousin Ida. She will be sadly missed by her sister-in-law, Annie Cormier; her nephew, Ronald (Thérèse); her great-niece, Janice (Aaron); her great-nephew, Jacques (Amanda); her great-great-niece, Chloé and her great-great-nephew, Nicholas. She is predeceased by her brother Alfred who passed away in 1987.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until time of departure (9:15). The funeral mass will be celebrated at Christ-Roi R.C. Church, 300 Dominion Street, Moncton, on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe. In memory of Louise, a contribution to the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the Cormier family.
