Smith, Ethel Caroline, 95 of the Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou formerly of Denver, Guysborough County passed away January 20, 2012 in the nursing home.
Born in Denver she was a daughter of the late Sam Henry and Jennie Mae (Whidden) Archibald.
Ethel was a resident of the Shiretown Nursing Home for the past few years, having previously resided in Denver, Guysborough County for most of her life.
She worked as a cook at St. Mary’s Hospital in Sherbrooke for some 20 years as well as a guide in Sherbrooke Village for a number of years up until her retirement.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by her nephews, Wayne(Carol), Middle Sackville; Ronnie, Denver; Andy, Ottawa; a niece Elizabeth(Harry)Ivey, Ottawa; several great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Ed and a son Archibald Henry “Archie”, brothers Alex and Bill.
Her remains will rest in the Kirk Memorial United Church, Glenelg for visiting from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Monday from where funeral services will be held 2pm Tuesday with Debbie Smith presiding. Burial will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery.
Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Ethel may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia, the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of one’s choice.
