July 17, 1936 - October 21, 2006 Maxine Deville Bergman of Kamloops, B.C. passed away peacefully on October 21, 2006 with two of her sons by her side. She was 70 years of age. She is survived by her loving sons, Darryl (Denise) of Kamloops, Myron of Nanaimo, Jim of Nanaimo and Shawn (Barb Martinez) of Victoria, five granddaughters, six great grandchildren as well as numerous family and friends. Maxine was born and raised in Saskatchewan. She married Henry Walker in 1953. They moved to Ladysmith, B.C. in 1963. Maxine also resided in Kamloops, Victoria and Nanaimo. She relocated to Kamloops again in 2003. Maxine always treasured sewing and cooking and brought joy to many through both. Maxine was a foster parent for many years, worked at Tranquille in Kamloops as a Health Care Worker and as a Financial Aid Worker in Victoria. She welcomed students and other boarders into her house where they lived and developed friendships that have lasted decades. She was active in numerous charities throughout her life. Her love and generosity assisted many. Special thanks to the caring staff at both the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice House and the 3rd Floor of Ponderosa Lodge. Celebration of life services will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at the Eagles' Hall, First Avenue, Ladysmith, B.C. and on Monday, October 30, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel of the Pines (Ponderosa Lodge Court Yard), 425 Columbia Street, Kamloops. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kamloops Hospice Association, 72 Whiteshield Crescent South, Kamloops, B.C. V2E 2S9.
