LACEY – Lorna Marie

Mrs. Lorna Marie Lacey, late of Prince Albert, SK passed away on November 28, 2009 at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK. She was born on June 12, 1924 in Shellbrook, SK and was the oldest daughter of George and Paula Clancy. Lorna is survived by her five children Bill (Germaine) Lacey of Nipawin, SK, Barb (Digger) Lacey-Hawkes of Calgary, AB, Cathy Lacey of Saskatoon, Ron (Kelly) Lacey of Saskatoon and Brent (Wilma) Lacey of Calgary, AB; her grandchildren Doug (Jennifer) Lacey, Nicole (Klarke) Lacey-Dergousoff, James (Jill) Lacey, Jay FitzGerald, Blake Lacey-Hawkes, Sean, Liam and Aden Lacey, Colleen and Sam Lacey and her great grandchildren Brooke, Luke and Nolan Lacey of Fort McMurray, AB and Alex Dergousoff of Prince Albert. Left to treasure her memory are her two cherished sisters Pat Ritchie of Agincourt, ON and Marcella Van Ness of Surrey, BC, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Lorna was predeceased by her husband Bill; her parents George and Paula Clancy; her brothers Basil and Ron; her brother-in-law Bill Ritchie and her sister -in-law Ruth Clancy. Lorna was a devoted mother and grandmother who took great pleasure in all her family's accomplishments. She began her secretarial career with M & C Aviation and later worked at John East Ironworks in Prince Albert. She spent many hours volunteering in various local activities as her children were growing up. She helped to organize the last P.A.C.I. Reunion and remained a loyal P.A. Raider fan for many years. She rarely missed a Sask. Roughrider game and remained keenly interested in the fate of her beloved "Riders" until her last breath the day before the Grey Cup. Lorna's love of Prince Albert National Park was a constant in her life; she was thrilled to return for a visit this past July. She was a creative person who enjoyed many projects over the years including soft sculpture and silk flower arranging. She loved to cook and many happy memories were made enjoying her wonderful meals and shoreline picnics. She was a great story teller and provided many laughs for her grandchildren with her often humorous stories and funny faces. In the last few years her health had deteriorated but she remained interested in the lives of all her children and grandchildren. Her greatest joy was in meeting each new great grandchild as they arrived. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2009 at St. David's Anglican Church, 500 - 24th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with The Reverend Norbert Haukenfrers officiating. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, the family requests that donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or Charity of Donor’s Choice.
