MERRITHEW, MARION IRENE - The death of Marion Irene (Edmondson) Merrithew of Fredericton NB, wife of the late Gordon Merrithew, passed away on Saturday January 28, 2012 at York Care Center, Fredericton, NB. Born in Fredericton NB on February 18, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Mae (Rosborough) Edmondson. Marion was a Telephone Operator with NBTel; later she and her husband owned and operated Merrithew's General Store at the Mouth of Keswick for many years. She was an active member of the St. Paul's United Church, Fredericton, NB. Marion is survived by her brothers Ronald (Emma) Edmondson of Keswick, NB and Ross (Shirley) Edmondson of Fredericton, NB; sister Hattie (George) Black of Kingsclear, NB; special friend Cynthia Van Buskirk; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Ernest and Harold Edmondson; sisters Hazel Edmondson, Eva Bigelow, Doris Burnett, Ella Mae Crawford and Kathleen Johnson; step-son Paul Merrithew; step-daughter-in-law Judie Jewett and step-grandson Gordon Meier.
Visitation will take place at YorkFuneral Home, 302 Brookside Dr. Fredericton, NB on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. A Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon Macleod Memorial Chapel Fredericton, NB on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 2pm with Rev. Dr. John Crawford officiating. Burial will be in the Pickard Merrithew Cemetery, Keswick NB, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Fredericton Food Bank or to the charity of the donor's choice.
