C. E. (Ed) Nicholson December 8, 1914 ~ November 18, 2006 Ed passed away at Royal Inland Hospital just weeks before his 92nd birthday. His is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Ella, daughter Lynda (Allen) of Salmon Arm, sons Don (Doris) and Ken (Judy) of Kamloops, and brother Eric (Annette) of Tswwassen, B.C. Ed was predeceased by his parents, Malcolm and Fanny of Belmont, Manitoba, his sisters, Jean and Ella, his brothers, Jim and Henry and his granddaughter, Twyla. Ed was born and raised on the family farm in Belmont, Manitoba. He worked his way west during the hungry thirties and eventually secured employment with the Canadian Pacific Railway. After 42 years of work on the railroad, 'Careful Ed' retired as a locomotive engineer in 1979 with a perfect safety record. Ed and Ella settled in Kamloops in 1944. His love of the community of Kamloops was reflected in his willingness to volunteer for many different organizations. Ed held many positions within union organizations, community groups, the Masonic Temple, and minor sports associations. He was a longtime member of the Kamloops Golf and Country Club and continued to play golf into his 89th year. His retirement years were spent traveling the world, golfing and connecting with family and friends. The family wishes to thank all the staff in the emergency unit and on 5 North at Royal Inland Hospital for the wonderful care provided to our father. The funeral service will be held on November 25, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Cathedral, 360 Nicola St., Kamloops, B.C. with the Reverend Louise Peters officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kamloops Heritage Railway Society, #6-510 Lorne St., Kamloops, B.C. V2C 1W3. Arrangements are in the care of Schoenings Funeral Home.
