Gregory, "Garnet" Watamanuk passed away at the Pioneer Lodge, December 9, 2009 at the age of 96. He is survived by his brother Dan Watamanuk and his sister Gene Hobbs, both of Moose Jaw, SK, sisters-in-law Audrey Campbell, Doreen Watermanuk, Katie Watamanuk and many nieces and nephews. Garnet was born January 9, 1913 at the family farm near Readlyn, SK. He was the sixth of fourteen children born to Josif and Eleana Watamanuk. Garnet was predeceased by his parents, brothers Vasile (infant), Bill, John, Nick, George, and Ted; sisters Annie Krasuin, Mary McLaughlin, Elizabeth Wrobleski, Margaret Lascue and Dorothy Itcush. Garnet was a dedicated keeper of his land and animals until he semi-retired to Assiniboia and then Moose Jaw. He had life long interests in horses, nature, gardening and his family. The family wishes to offer special thanks to the care givers at Pioneer Lodge, Carol Miller, and Donna's Compassionate Care for their dedication to Garnet. Family and friends are invited to prayers at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Sunday, December 13, 2009 at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home on Monday, December 14, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. Reverend David Edwards will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial tribute may be made in Garnet's name to a charity of your choice. In living memory of Garnet, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
