Passed away suddenly on Monday, January 30th, 2012, aged 62 years. Daphne was born October 3rd, 1949 on Bell Island, NL and was a lifelong area resident. She worked tirelessly to provide a loving home for her husband, children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father Peter (Bud) Sweeney, brother Kenneth Sweeney, brother-in-laws; James, Thomas, Leander, Cyril, Gerald and John; sister-in-law; Helen. Leaving to mourn her loving husband of 39 years Syl; daughter Jacqueline (Ian) Hunt; son Darrell (Lisa); grandchildren: Brooklynn, Colton and Kalei who meant the world to her; mother Patricia Sweeney; brothers: Keith (Golda) and Kevin (Sharon); sisters: Eileen, Rosalind and Lydia (John); brothers-in-law: Bernard (Bride); sister-in-laws: Sharon Sweeney, Sadie Bickford, Kathleen (Pete) Yetman, Margaret (Raymond) Gorman, Mary Carroll and Elizabeth Carroll and a large circle of extended family and friends. Visitation will be held at Pendergast Funeral Home on Wednesday and Thursday from noon to 12 p.m. Funeral Mass to follow on Friday at St. Michael’s Church at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow at St. Michael’s Parish Cemetery, Bell Island. Following the ceremony, the family would like to invite family and friends to St. Michael's Parish Hall on Bell Island to celebrate Daphne’s life.
