Daniel Albert Heck

Born In: Canada

Passed in: Canada

Daniel Albert Heck April 23, 1953 ~ November 21, 2006 Daniel Albert Heck was tragically killed in a logging accident, leaving to mourn his loving wife of 26 years, Petra, and his beautiful daughters, Nicole, Monica and Silke. He is survived by his mother, Edna Heck; father-in-law, Edmund Schulz; brothers, David, Dennis (Therese), Doug (Loraine), and Darryl (Eleanor), sisters, Lillian (Rob), Marianne (Bruce) and Betty (Wade); and his many, many nieces and nephews. Dan was predeceased by his father, Henry, and mother-in-law Margarete Shulz. Dan was born and raised in Port Alberni, BC. This is where he met the love of his life, Petra, in 1975 and in 1980, they married. Together, Dan and Petra fulfilled their greatest accomplishment: the birth of their three daughters. Dan was a devoted father who cherished every moment with his girls. On their frequent visits to Port Alberni, no trip was complete without a stop at the J&L. He fostered his passion for muscle cars, traveling, and the value of hard work in his children. His dedication to Petra and to his large, extended family is their priceless legacy. Together, Dan and Petra enjoyed vacationing in many warm destinations and exploring new places. His love of flying led him to acquire his pilot's license. Always an adventurer, Dan experienced many "out of the ordinary" fishing trips in the Alberni Inlet, and adventures in North and Central America, Chile and Korea. Dan has had a diverse career, working at Alberni Pacific Division before choosing to work outdoors as a logger. He worked at the Sproat Lake Division prior to moving to Lillooet, where he was employed for Vanderhook Logging. In 1984, Dan, along with Wayne and Dale Vanderhook, acquired that company, creating D.W.D. Logging, an achievement Dan was very proud of. He was a well-liked and highly regarded member of the logging industry. Dan and his family lived in Lillooet for 25 years where he developed lasting friendships with a great many people. The later portion of these years was spent commuting to the Mackenzie area. Three years ago, the family moved to Prince George so that he would be closer to home and the family he loved. Dan was a very generous, kind, and caring person; he continually made time for every one. He was a loving son who always showed great concern and generosity towards his mother, Edna. Many people depended on Dan daily. He made every effort to be there for them. His passing has deeply affected all of us who knew and loved him. A memorial service will be held at the REC Centre in Lillooet, B.C., on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. There will also be a service at the Chapel of Memories, 4005 - 6th Avenue, Port Alberni, BC, on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please give blood - regularly
