It is with great sadness that the family of Harold Harms announces his peaceful passing on November 27, 2006 at Ponderosa Lodge, Kamloops. Harold was born the eldest of five children in Lydden, Saskatchewan, June 30, 1918. Survived by: sons Fred (Kathy) and Greg (Sharee) Harms, daughter Joanne (Doug) Lifford; brother Ed Harms (Adelle); sisters Gerry Whiskin (Art) and Rosabel Johnson; grandchildren Dianna and Amanda Lifford, Gordon Shelley and Darryl Kuromi; Michelle and David Harms, great granddaughter Crystal and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Joyce (2003) and youngest daughter Kathy Kuromi (2005). Harold was a proud contributor to the World War II effort, having served as a flight and navigational instructor in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Immediately following the war, he met and married Joyce Goodchild; they settled and raised their children in Abbotsford. Harold attended U.B.C. where he graduated with two degrees in three years: Agriculture and Commerce. Harold spent his working years promoting electrification of Fraser Valley farms for B.C. Hydro, appraising farms throughout British Columbia for the Farm Credit Corporation, as a commercial salmon fisherman on the Fraser River and ended his career as a realtor. Harold loved camping and fishing and was happiest when working or playing outdoors. Dad was a quiet, gentle and kind man who cherished his family above all else. We will love him always. The family would like to extend appreciation and special thanks to Dr. M. Wilson; Harold's caregivers Iva, Margo and Angella and all the amazing staff at Ponderosa Lodge who gave Dad the best of care during his short stay there. A memorial tea to honour Harold is planned at Berwick on the Park, Kamloops on Monday, December 4, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. in the Henderson's Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Connie Thompson officiating. Interment at a later date in the family plot, Musselwhite Cemetery, Abbotsford.
