ERNEST FREDERICK LANGFORD A Creative Life March 9, 1920 - December 1, 2006 With great sorrow, we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Ernest Frederick Langford, writer, musician and painter. Ernest was born in Brosely, Shropshire, England. As a boy, Ernest was an accomplished violinist. He immigrated to Canada in 1950 and settled in BC in 1953 where he began writing stage, radio and TV plays. In the 1960's he began to write full time and over four decades produced 24 novels, 20 full-length stage plays, many short stories, and a collection of poetry. The hallmarks of Ernest's work are originality and imaginative power. He was a self-educated man and prolific reader and interpreter of classical and English literature. Music remained a great love throughout his life. Surviving are his wife, Caroline, his children, Rachel (Janette), Stephanie, Mark (Kate) and Francesca (Surinder). His grandchildren Michael, Adam, Cecilia, Hannah and Rosemary will always remember him. We love him dearly. We will miss him greatly. A private viewing was held for family members. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kamloops Laubach Literacy Council, 614 Tranquille Rd, Kamloops, BC V2B 3H6
