BAKKER, Shannon (nee Payn)– 1976 - 2012. RPN - Rosewood Retirement Home. Born in St John’s, NL - Passed away suddenly at KGH on February 2, 2012 after a valiant struggle to live, so that she could be a part of the lives of her beloved husband Chris and her adored daughters Abagail and Emily. Left to mourn forever are her loving parents Don and Genny and much loved brother Matthew Payn (Allison McCulloch). Predeceased by her brother Donnie (1990). Also left to mourn are her loved father-in-law Andy Bakker (Lorette), brother-in-law Jack (Nancy), nieces Olivia, Charlotte and Sophia and brother-in-law Peter (Sabrina) and nieces Avery and Tegan. Shannon was loved by her grandmothers Mary Payn and Elizabeth Halbot. Holding her deeply in their hearts are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and very dear friends. Also left to mourn are her birth father Doug Burry (Eileen) and extended birth family in Edmonton, Alta. Being a nurse herself Shannon would have wanted to acknowledge Dr. Michael O’Reilly and all of the staff from Davies 3, and the CSU team for their above and beyond support. The family will receive friends at the Wartman Funeral Home “Kingston Chapel", (980 Collins Bay Rd, Kingston 613-634-3722) on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2012. It is Shannon’s wish to be with her brother Donnie and so she will be laid to rest at the Cataraqui Cemetery. Donations by cheque payable to Abagail and Emily Bakker in Trust will be remembered with appreciation by the family.
