It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and friend, Margaret Genevieve (Hanrahan) Campbell. Margaret passed away at 1 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at the Glace Bay Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in McKay’s Corner, Margaret was the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Routledge) Hanrahan.
As well as being a devoted wife and mother, Margaret was a dedicated and faithful member of Holy Family parish. Her strong religious beliefs enabled her to teach Sunday School for over 15 years.
Her great passion and faith lives on in her students.
Margaret will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 57 years, Michael ‘Deb’ Campbell; nine children, Michael (Shelly) Campbell, Carol (Allister) Smith, Marie (Nelson) O’Brien, Tina (Todd) Grant, JoAnne Routhier, Melinda (Chris) Sewarun, Debra (Joe) Farrow, DJ Campbell (Leslie), Donna Campbell (Graham). Margaret is also survived by cherished grandchildren, Jason, Michael, Ashley, Michael, Mathew, Daniel, Sabetha, Jordan, Sarah, Alex, Adrian and Ethan and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her only brother, Edward ‘Junior’ (Angela) Hanrahan, a brother she adored.
Besides her parents, Margaret was predeceased by a son, Edward, brother, Bill, sisters, Joan and Marie.
In honoring Margaret’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at Holy Family Church, McKay’s Corner with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.
Memorial donations in Margaret’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
