The family of Edward MacLean regret to announce his passing on Feb. 4, 2012 at The Cove Guest Home in Sydney.
Eddie was a life-long resident of South Bar where he was born in 1921 to the late Charles and Katie (Clarke) MacLean.
Eddie was an employee at Sydney Steel for 42 years, retiring in 1984. In the summer months, he enjoyed spending his free time talking with his friends at Polar Bear Beach and usually the topic of conversation was about the weather. He was a member of Westminster Bible Presbyterian Church, Sydney.
Eddie was the last surviving member of his immediate family; he is however survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Charles, George, Alfred, and Leslie, and sisters, Linda, Irene, Edna, Viola and Maria.
Visitation will take place from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation, with Pastor Michael Butterfield officiating. There will be a reception following the service. Interment to take place at a later date at Kilkenny Lake Cemetery, Victoria Mines.
