COOLEN, PATRICIA ANNE, BA, LLB - It is with deep and profound sadness that we pronounce the peaceful passing of Pat, in the Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto on January 28, 2012, after a brief struggle with lymphoma. Born in Halifax on February 19, 1951 to Evelyn Margaret (Hughes) Coolen and Robert Leo Coolen. A graduate of Saint Patrick’s High School, Saint Mary’s University and Dalhousie Law School, she spent most of her professional life with BDC in Halifax and Toronto. She excelled in cooking and entertaining and was forever surrounded by friends. A wonderful wife, sister, aunt and friend, her wit and savoir faire will forever be remembered. A remarkable person who lived life to its fullest. She leaves to mourn her loving husband Brian (Toronto); her sister Janet Coolen, Halifax; brothers Tom Coolen (Jane, Patrick and Lillie) Fredericton; and Robert Coolen (Hyla, Kelly and Elizabeth), Halifax; sister-in-law Sylvia Samuels (Don), Philadelphia; brother-in-law Jerry Shore (Betty), Sydney; and many lifelong friends.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, February 7th at 10;30 am in Saint Theresa’s Church, North Street, Halifax. Reception to follow. A celebration of her life will be held in Toronto in late February. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. If desirable, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Leukemia and Lymphoma Division.
