THOMAS On Friday, December 15, 2006, Mr. Hans Johnny Harry Otto Thomas of Kamloops passed away at the age of 85 years. Hans was born in Laubenheim, Germany on March 16, 1921 to Dr. Hans Thomas and Ella Haag Thomas. He is survived by his wife Joyce of San Mateo, CA; his son Hans (and fiancÈe Judy) of Oakland, CA; his daughter Jenny of Salt Lake City, UT; his son Nick of Santa Cruz, CA; his brother Harry of Kamloops; and nephews, their wives and children in Kamloops, Vancouver and Toronto. He was both a champion tennis player and swimmer. Hans was a member of the 1940 Dutch Olympic Swim Team. After earning a law degree from Leiden University, he became a successful lawyer in Djakarta. Moving to North America in 1955, he worked as an accountant, consultant and business owner in Canada and the U.S. His lifelong interest was genealogy, and his research has been published in German genealogical journals.
