COATES, BARBARA ALICE (nee BROWN) - Barbara Alice Coates of Fredericton, wife of the late Allison G. Coates passed away peacefully on Monday February 6, 2012 at the Dr. Chalmers Regional Hospital at the age of 81. Born in Fredericton, raised in Moncton, she returned to Fredericton where she married Al and raised their two daughters. She was a daughter of the late Earl and Eileen Celista (Parker) Brown. Barb and her husband Al spent every summer at their cottage at Lake George. She loved children and over many years ran, in her home nursery school, kindergarten and after school programs. Barb enjoyed her weekly Wednesday night bingo and her Tuesday lunches at Wheels to Meals. Survived by her two daughters Susan Tait (Norm) of Quispamsis and Debbie McFadzen (Tim) of Fredericton; four grandsons Jason Tait of Quispamsis and his children Emma and Parker, Travis Tait (Suzie) of Brampton, ON and their children Raeleigh, Hudson and Cameron, Mark McFadzen (April) of Fredericton and their children Savannah and Aniston, Brent McFadzen of Fredericton and his fiancé Amy Thompson; one sister Marjorie Craig of Hay Settlement, NB; several nieces and nephews. Aside from her parents and husband Al, she was predeceased a sister Geraldine Bolton.
Visitation will take place at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road on Wednesday from 7 to 9 and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. The funeral service will be held at Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel on Friday at 2:00, with Rev. Doug Hapeman officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. Donations in Barb’s memory may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association, NB Heart and Stroke or a charity of the donor’s choice.
