Dear Dad,
This time of year, we like to recall,
In a little more formal way,
That sad time for all of us,
When you were called away.

But our thoughts of you come many times,
Throughout our daily lives,
The lessons we learned,
The ones we missed,
That twinkle in your eyes.

The good thing though with the passage of time,
Is that despite our pain,
These thoughts can bring a smile to us,
The rainbow through the rain.

The edges they have softened now,
The tough times hazier still,
And much that’s left reflects the love,
We feel that you instilled.

So be content that all the work,
And sacrifices you made,
Allow each of us to carry your torch,
And never let it fade.

We love and miss you. Your loving family.
