It is with great sadness that the family of the late Shirley Gabriel (nee Alexander) announce her passing on Thursday, December 3rd, 2009 at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville, at the age of 73 years. She leaves to mourn with many precious memories, her three daughters: Debbie Gabriel, Joan (Rick) Gabriel, Della (Kenny) Gabriel; grandchildren: Daniel Gallant, Cassandra Gallant; sisters: Patsy (Louis) Gallant, Labrador City, Lillian Garnier, Kingston, ON; brother, Robert (Leone) Alexander, St. John’s, as well as a large circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Andrew Gabriel; parents, Cornelius and Jeanette (nee Power) Alexander; brothers: Gerry (Viola) Alexander, Billy (Madonna) Alexander, Leo Alexander, Kevin Alexander; sisters: Margaret (Walt) Bazuik, Phyllis (Roy) Parsons and special friend Doris Downey. Visitation will take place from Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing of Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 p.m. The funeral mass will be on Monday, December 7, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. from Assumption Parish in Stephenville Crossing with Father Gerard Patry officiating. Interment will follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Brook St., Stephenville Crossing. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
