James Michael “Jimmy” Rogers - 51, of Canning, Kings County, passed away peacefully at home Monday, February 6, 2012. Born in Canning, he was a son of the late Thomas Clifton and Evelyn “Bobbie” (Blenkhorn) Rogers. Jimmy was employed with George Weston Limited (Sarsfield Pies) for 27 years. He had a love for hockey and looked forward to each Sunday so he could play the game with his teammates then looked forward to returning home where church service would commence in the heated garage thanks to his many followers. He was a faithful member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Habitant Branch No. 73, Canning. He is survived by brothers, Tom, Roy, Gerry, Rob, Donnie “Rog” and Brad (Susan); sisters, Anne, Elizabeth “Debbie” Simpson (Frenchie), Judi King, Dot (Vance) Sweet and Emily (Bruce) Cunningham; several nieces and nephews; many great nieces and nephews. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2012 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2012. Burial will take place at a later date in the Hillaton Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the charity of your choice.
