Born In: Smithers, British Columbia, Canada
Passed in: Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada
Passed on: February 9th, 2012
Marlene Goodwin of Kamloops passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 80 years of age.
Her memory will be cherished by her loving husband Harry and their five children, Vern (June) Goodwin of Dawson Creek, Kalvin (Lorna) Goodwin of Quesnel, Sheryl (Phil) McDonald of Calgary, Brent (Joyce) Goodwin of Kamloops and Deanna (Al) Nordick of Kamloops; 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her father, mother and two sisters.
Marlene was born in Smithers, B.C. and in her early years she worked for Canada Post and for her father in Goulds Family Clothiers. After marriage, they moved to Kamloops and she worked at Sears for 16 years. Her five children were the joy of her life; she was the family's Rock. She did it all, she was the family's Barber, Baker and Clothes Maker. She could make something out of nothing. After retirement she enjoyed her hobbies camping, fishing, and a little golf too. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. We will love you forever and always. Dear Wife, Mom, Nanna, Granny, and Friend. We will see you soon.
The family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen Wing at Overlander; They were great and Mom loved them.
There will be no formal ceremony by request. A Celebration of Life will be held by the family at a later date.
Donations in memory of Marlene may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of BC, #300-828 West 8th. Ave. Vancouver, B.C. V5Z 1E2 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, #201-635 Victoria St., Kamloops, B.C., V2C 2B3.
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little-but not too long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that
we once shared,
Miss me-but let me go.
For this is a journey that
we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's all a part of the Master's plan,
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in
doing good deeds.
Miss Me-But Let me Go.
