In Loving Memory of JAMES SHARP MAXWELL 1914 - 2007 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Jim Maxwell on January 9, 2007, at the age of 92. Jim is survived by his brother-in-law Alex Campbell, sister-in-law May Maxwell and numerous nieces and nephews. Uncle Jim will be greatly missed by a very special niece and nephew, Judy (Jack) Favelle and Brent (Brenda) Campbell. Jim was predeceased by his parents George and Isabella, wife Irene, brothers Bill and Doug and sisters Barbara and Jessie. Jim was born February 1, 1914 in Merritt, B.C. After leaving school he worked on dairy farms in Merritt and Princeton. Jim joined the Services March 13, 1941, serving 4 years with the Canadian Forestry Corp in Scotland and the Continent. After the war, Jim attended Barbering School in Vancouver and returned to Merritt to open his own barber shop and was the town's barber for many years. Jim met and married Irene September 21, 1954 and they were together 27 years until her passing. Jim was very active as a volunteer fireman with the Merritt Fire Department for many years. Throughout his life he belonged to many organizations, including the Oddfellow's Lodge, Royal Canadian Legion, Rod & Gun Club. Jim also volunteered at the Coquihalla-Gillis House and was one of the original volunteers at the Merritt Information Centre. Jim was a proud "Merrittonian", always willing to lend a helping hand and he loved the "Nicola Valley". Jim was an avid fisherman and he landed many prize steelhead at Spences Bridge. He tied all his own flies and shared them with his many friends. The family wishes to thank all the special nurses and volunteers at Coquihalla-Gillis House for their kind and compassionate care of Uncle Jim over the past 6 years. Special thanks to all of Uncle Jim's friends and especially his dear friends, Deni Curnow and Inez Peterson who were always there for him. No service by request. A family gathering will take place at a later date. If friends desire, donations to Coquihalla-Gillis House, 2201 Jackson Avenue, Merritt, B.C. in memory of Jim would be appreciated. Cremation arrangements entrusted to Schoening's Funeral Service, 513 Seymour Street, Kamloops, B.C
