JASWANT "JOHN" CHAUHAN November 9, 1923 - January 30, 2007 It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Jaswant "John" Chauhan at the age of 83 years old. He will be eternally remembered and sadly missed by his wife, Linda, his Children, Jaiwant (Christie) and Pratima, his Stepchildren, Jude (Vely), Maryanne (Gary), and Butch (Janette), Grandchildren, Jameel, Ravi, Aaron, Raekha, Mark, Jessie, Jessica, Johanna, and Ashley, his Brothers and Sister, his many Nephews and Nieces, and all his Relatives and Friends. John was born on November 9th, 1923 in Lahore, India (later Pakistan). He was predeceased by his parents, Khania Lal and Sarah, his Brothers, Inderjeet and Wishwajeet, and Sister, Mohine. He came to Canada on May 4th, 1962 and worked at the Ministry of Highways, Geotechnical Branch until his retirement in 1985. John's enjoyment in life was derived from seeing new places and meeting new people. Prior to coming to Canada, he traveled to many exotic places. It was his adventurous spirit that led him to take the risk of bringing his young family to Canada to begin a new life. He particularly cared about helping others and personally sponsored several families to immigrate to Canada. Through the years, he continued to try and assist new immigrants in Kamloops, often supplying them with basic necessities and inviting them home for supper. John will be remembered in his later years for his daily walk-about in the downtown area and his many volunteering activities, including the Auxiliary RCMP, RIH Ladies Auxiliary, Canada Games in 1993, Sagebrush Theatre, and many others. John will be particularly remembered by his loved ones for his great love and support of his wife, children and grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Sadness and deep love remain in the hearts of his family and all those whose lives he has touched. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Stefanyk and Dr. Prassad, all the nursing staff and students at RIH 3 West, ICU, Stepdown Unit, and the E.R. for their loving and compassionate care of John these past several weeks. A funeral service will be held at the Kamloops Funeral Home, at 285 Fortune Drive, Kamloops, B.C. on Sunday, February 4th, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honour may be made to the Kamloops Immigrant Services. Condolences may be emailed to the family at: sympathy@shawbiz.ca
