HAMM, RALPH - Ralph William Hamm, loving husband of Joyce Hamm, would like to advise all of his family and friends that he has left his home in Saint John on February 21, 2012 to enter the pearly gates of heaven. He realizes that some of you will ask “How can he know where he is going?” He knows because his very good friend, Jesus Christ, paid his way many years ago. Born 1915 in Saint John, he was the son of the late James and Ada (Duplesea) Hamm. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his first wife Marion Saunders, second wife Constance Steeves; sisters Lillian Moore, Margaret Whittaker, Gertrude French and Vera MacDonald; brothers Burpee Shillington and Clarence Hamm. Ralph worked as a meat supervisor at Sobeys for 17 years and Co-Op for 7 years, retiring in 1981. He served his country in the Air Force working with DeHavill and Aircraft building the Mosquito Bomber from 1943-1945. He was a longtime woodworker, an active member of Calvary Temple, enjoyed gardening and the friendship Bowling Club. Besides his wife Joyce, he is survived by daughters Marilyn Bond (Lloyd) of Quispamsis and Lorna Jean Allaby (Terrance) of Moncton; grandchildren Brian (Helen) Bond and Brent (Janet) Bond; step-children Rachelle (Steve) Doherty of Medford, MA, Jacqueline (Domenic) Fabrizio of Everett, MA, Arthur (Debbie) Cormier of Raymond, NH and Alyson (John Norcross) Cormier of Newton, MA; step-grandchildren Rachael Cormier and Joseph and Anna Fabrizio; great-grandchildren Isaiah and Madison; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Friday, February 24, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Calvary Temple on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Fernhill Cemetery.
