Robert (Bob) Chabot, On Thursday, February 9, 2012, Robert Chabot, beloved husband and “Papa”, peacefully passed away at 80 years of age. Robert is survived by Lucienne (nee Fournier) his loving wife and best friend of 56 years. His children Joanne Greendwood (Bill) of Odessa, SK, Albert (Therese Lemire) of Val Marie, SK, Norman (Donna Smith) of Edmonton, AB, Guy (Jennifer Brandino) of Calgary, AB, Helene Elik (Todd) of Regina, SK, Rodrigue (Nadine Didow) of Edenmwold, SK. Pépère will be missed by his beloved grandchildren Adam and Christopher Chabot, Vanessa and Jacob Elik, Robert, Brock, Burke and Bryce Chabot, Tyler Synuiga and Richelle Chabot, Michelle, Pierre and Chantal Chabot, Wilson and Elizabeth Greenwood. Robert was born 80 years ago in the district of Ferland, SK on December 31, 1931, the third of nine children. Robert did his schooling in Ferland and his high school at Collége Mathieu in Gravelbourg. He worked for his father Noé at Chabots Garage in Ferland, eventually taking over the business. He married the love of his life Lucienne Fournier July 20, 1955. He was extremely proud of his six children and 15 grandchildren. He was also very actively involved in community life such as a hockey coach, not only for his own sons but for many young players in the surrounding areas. He has a strong sense of community and fairness, which led him to become involved in local politics. Robert loved his family, fishing, and his gorgeous gardens, spending many hours combining all three. His legacy is a family of fishermen with green thumbs. Due to a debilitating accident, the latter part of his life was spent close to home, enjoying the company of his wife Lucienne and frequent visits from many family members and friends. Prayers were held on Thursday, February 16, 2012, at 8:00 p.m. with Monique Morin presiding, and Funeral Mass on Friday, February 17, 2012, at 3:00 p.m. with Father Juanito Vargas celebrant, both held at the St. Jean Baptiste Roman Catholic Church, Ferland, SK. Cross bearer was Rodrique Chabot and altar server was Pierre Chabot. Urn bearer was Albert Chabot. The eulogy was shared by Guy Chabot and Joanne Greenwood. Readers were Helene Elik and Richelle Chabot. Intentions were given by Bill Greenwood and Michelle Chabot. Offertory gifts were presented by Norman Chabot and Todd Elik. Soloist Diane Lacasse was accompanied by organist Louisa Lacasse. Memorial tributes in memory of Robert to the Saskatchewan Brain Injury Association, Box 3843, Regina, SK S4P 3Y3, were greatly appreciated.
