
David Balfour
BALFOUR, DAVID - Unexpectedly at his residence on February 21, 2012, Mr. David Balfour, husband of Mrs. Ruth (Styles) Balfour of Bethel, NB. Born in England on November 17, 1939, he was the adoptive son of the late Jessie Rose Balfour. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his wife Ruth, he is survived by two sons; Michael (Nina) Balfour of Whitby, ON and Paul (Anita) Balfour of Markham, ON, two daughters; Jill (Rick) Spencer of Saint John, NB and Lorraine (Stephen) McGuigan of Canal, NB, eight grandchildren; Richard Balfour (Tonya), Jamie Russell (Denis Devost), Daniel (Megan) Murray, Christopher Balfour, Stephen McGuigan, Beverly Ann Balfour, Katie McGuigan and Richell Balfour, three great grandchildren; Garrett, Makenna and Jordynn Murray, one brother, Robert (Violet) Balfour of England, two sisters; Marjorie Pratt and Jean Vine both of England and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, David was predeceased by one sister, Olive Hollyman and by one brother, Cyril Balfour. David moved to Blacks Harbour in 1979 and retired from Connors Brothers Can and Cover Division after many years of employment as a Production Manager. In his quiet time he enjoyed Curling, playing Badminton or could be found woodworking.
There will be no visitation by request. A service will be held from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB on Saturday at 2:00 pm. The interment will take place at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the spring. In David’s memory, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Asthma Society of Canada or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by family. (www.stgeorgefh.ca)
