BAIN, Alva Margaret – 93. On February 19, 2012, Mom went home to be with the Lord. She peacefully passed away at the Villa St. Joseph du Lac, Dayton, Yarmouth, N.S. Born July 9, 1917 at Cape Forchu, Yarmouth, N.S. she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Ethel (Allen) Scoville. She is survived by sons, Roger, Langley, B.C.; Ron (Louise), Yarmouth; four grandchildren, Tracey, Brad, Peter-David, and Libby; six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Burnley; sister, Polly; brothers, Victor, Aaron, Thedore, Norman, and Robert. She and her husband owned and operated Terminals Limited, stevedoring and maintenance to the CN Marine ferry terminal in Yarmouth, for 25 years. Mom lived a very active and full life until recently when confined to home due to her health. She taught Sunday school, leader of C.G.I.T. and youth groups, sang in church choirs, and visited many senior residences. She was a past president to the Art Society and active in the Yarmouth Museum and was a devoted member of Beacon Church. She also worked for many charitable organizations including: Canadian Cancer Society, Red Cross, and the Heart and Stoke Foundation. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation took place in Sweeny’s Funeral home Chapel on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 from 7-9 p.m. A funeral service was held Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 11 a.m. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Bragan, Pastor Brian Wallace, and Rev. Ray Corbett officiating. Interment followed in Pembroke Cemetery.
