STANWOOD, Alida “Ruby” – 82, of Overton, Yarmouth Co., N.S., passed away peacefully on February 19, 2012. Born October 1, 1929 in Cumberland Bay, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Holley and Annie (Nightingale) Brown of N.B. Ruby was a devoted and loving housewife and mother to not only her own children but many foster children over 35 years. She was kind hearted and made hot lunches at a local school for the children. In her spare time she loved taking boat trips in the “ put put” and going fishing. She is survived by loving husband, Howard Stanwood, Overton, Yarmouth Co.; children, Rickey (Audrey) Brown, Monteagle, N.B.; Billy Stanwood (Laura), Hebron; Rose Cunningham, Toronto, O.N.; Les Stanwood, Overton; sisters, Viola King, Cumberland Bay, N.B.; Louise (Larry) Earle, St. John, N.B.; grandchildren, Julie (Darryl) Brown-Robichaud, Monteagle, N.B.; Jody (Paul)Brown-Wilson, Wheaton Settlement, N.B.; Tim Cunningham, Overton, N.S.; Tyler Comeau, Clare, N.S.; Meagan Comeau, North Sydney, N.S.; Noah, Leah, and Sarah Stanwood; Layton Landry; great grandchildren, Georgia and Samantha Robichaud, Colton Cunningham, and Audrey Comeau. She is predeceased by brothers, William, Hayward, Calvin, George, and Tedford Brown; sisters, Olive Moss, Dora McNamara, and Anna (Clara) Neves; and granddaughter Tanya Cunningham. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Wednesday, February 22 from 7-9 p.m. at Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service was held Thursday, February 23 at 2 p.m. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Clark officiating. Interment followed in Chegoggin Cemetery.
