STOODLEY It is with a very heavy heart we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather, Norman Hubert Stoodley, on Tuesday, February 13th, 2007, at Royal Inland Hospital. Norman was predeceased by his wife, Ethel Rose Stoodley in Feb. 2000. He was also predeceased, most recently by his granddaughter, Debra Julian, in Oct. 2006. Dad was also predeceased by his brothers and their wives, Art & Joan Stoodley and Bill & Jacquie Stoodley, and his parents, J.O. and Violet Stoodley. Norman is survived by his son, Brian (Janice) Stoodley, grandsons Craig Stoodley, Kelly (Wendi) Stoodley and Kevin Julian. Also survived by great grandchildren Mikayla, Olivia and Savannah Stoodley, Robby Carlson, Michelle Carlson, Brennin and Bryce Julian. Also Norman's special great-great granddaughter, ZoÃŽ Carlson. Norman is also survived by his daughter, Sue (Brian) Wilmot, and their two daughters, Karen and Amy Wilmot. Dad was thrilled to be #1 of 5 generations. Norman has numerous in-laws including Hazel Millar, Margaret McShane, Bunny James, Patricia (Des) Price, Howard Baker, Tom (Sylvia) Baker, and Bob (Dianne) Baker, as well as many nieces and nephews. He also has his special cousin, Barbara Bickell, who lives in England. Dad was born in Kamloops on August 6th, 1914 and was quite proud to admit he lived only 3 blocks from where he was born. He drove a freight bus/truck in the 1930's which he loved to reminisce about. He joined the City of Kamloops Fire Department in 1946 and retired from there as a Captain in 1974. He was the oldest living fireman of the original crew, and was a Charter Member of Local 910. Norman and Ethel enjoyed spending time at their cottage at Lac Le Jeune, which Norm built and was so very proud of. Mom and Dad enjoyed several trips that included Europe, China, Hawaii, and Alaska, as well as spending several winters in Yuma, Arizona in the 1970's & 80's. Their last trip was across Canada in 1996. Norm's favourite hobbies were "tinkering" with mechanical things, golfing, and hunting through the newspapers. Dad was a self-taught mechanic who could literally fix anything. In the 1960's & 70's, he and his two late brothers-in-law, Bob McShane and Archie Millar, jointly owned East End Auto Wreckers, in Valleyview. There will be no formal service, at Dad's request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, 311 Columbia St., Kamloops, B.C. V2C 2T1 or to a charity of choice. Cremation entrusted to Kamloops Funeral Home.
