Donald Saigeon

SAIGEON
Donald Stanley Saigeon passed on peacefully on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the age of 79. Don was a cherished father, husband and friend. He touched the lives of many people and he will be greatly missed. Don was born in Herbert, Saskatchewan in 1932 and grew up in Morse, where he eventually took over the family farm and later owned a hardware business. In the late 1970's Don and his wife Edna moved into the Riverhurst Community where Don built a home on the shores of Lake Diefenbaker. That home was their pride and joy. Don will be remembered as a wonderful father, often taking time to introduce his sons to the great outdoors. One of Don's passions was fishing as many of his close friends will recall. Another of Don's great loves was carpentry and many hours of his life were spent creating artful pieces of work with his hands. A sense of community was important to Don as was shown through his involvement in community service work including a term as Chief of the Morse Voluntary Fire Brigade.
Don is survived by his sons, Lyle and Bruce; grandchildren, Robin Carter, Anna-Maria Saigeon, Daniel Saigeon, Michael Saigeon and great grandson Bailin Carter. Don was predeceased by his parents Walter and Molly of Morse, and by his loving wife Edna. The family would like to extend a very sincere thank you to the many family and friends that have shown their comforting support and especially acknowledge and thank the staff of the Moose Jaw Union Hospital for the great care they provided Don over the past several years. Don came to know many of the staff as his friends. A Celebration of Don's life will be held at W.J. Jones & Son Chapel, on Monday February 27, 2012 at 10:30 am. Pastor Brian Wiens will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Saskatchewan Lung Association, 1231 8th St.E., Saskatoon, SK. S7H 0S5. In living memory of Don, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home. Please sign the memorial register book at website: www.wjjonesandson.com (Obituaries).
