MORGAN, Maggie “Jean” (nee Smith)– Stephenville, NL. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville, NL at the age of 94. Jean was born on November 3, 1917 in Aspey Brook, Random Island, NL and was the daughter of the late Roland and Emma Smith. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She came to Stephenville with her husband David in 1943. She is survived by sons: Dave (Rose), Port au Port, Wayne, St. John's, Gary, Regina, SK, Arthur Dennis (Butch), Stephenville; daughter, Wanda (Allen) Radford, Havre Boucher, NS; brother, Clarence (late Jenny) Smith, Elliott's Cove; Pearl Smith, sister-in-law, Mount Pearl; 13 grandchildren: Davey, Phillip, Todd, Dean, Trina, Amanda, Mark, Dawn, Justin, Matthew, Cole, Kristopher and Brandon and 17 great-grandchildren. Jean was predeceased by her husband, David, son, baby Gerald, daughter, Sandra, brother, Harvey Smith, Mount Pearl, sister Gladys and brother-in-law, Lewis Hefford, Snook's Harbour, sister Merida Smith, Aspey Brook. Visitation took place on Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the First United Church, 43 St. Claire Avenue, Stephenville. Also visitation will be held on Sunday, February 26th at the Central United Church, Random Island from 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday, February 27th at 11 a.m. at the Central United Church, Random Island with Interment in the Aspey Brook Cemetery. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. McComiskey, the nursing staff at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital for their great care during her illness and for keeping her comfortable to her last days. A special thank you to Rev. Kathryn Eddy and friends, Dianne MacDonald, Donna Benoit, Ester Smith and Ursula White. Memorial donations may be made to the United Church Memorial Fund or the Central United Church, Elliott’s Cove, NL. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Russell’s Funeral Home, Stephenville and Vardy’s Funeral Home, Hickman’s Harbour, Random Island, NL.
