BLANCHARD, THERESA - On Friday, February 24, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, It is with broken hearts and deep regret that the family of Theresa Mary Blanchard announce her unexpected and peaceful passing, she was the loving wife and best friend of Joseph Eldon Blanchard for the last 60 years. Born in 1925 in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Emanuelle and Catherine Gallant. Theresa worked for School Dist # 8 for 14 years before retiring. She enjoyed bowling with her many friends, camp life at South Oromocto Lake and Lake Utopia, shopping, clogging and special outings and TV Bingo with her cherished husband and loved all family gatherings. She is the precious and devoted mother to her daughters Esther (Grant) Craig of Morna and Susan Blanchard of Saint John, daughter in law Lynn Blanchard and Lynn’s son Sean Parlee. Treasured and deeply loved granddaughters Trina (Scott) Goguen and Christa Craig (Ronald Daigle and his daughter Emily) along with her much loved grandson Paul Martin. She admired and truly enjoyed her great-grandchildren Anthony, Alyssa, Alexis and Aiden who gave her so much joy by sharing their hockey games, special events and especially their hugs and kisses with their Nanny Theresa. Her cherished brothers Leo (Eleanor) Gallant of Bouctouche Bay, and Albert (Marie) Gallant of Saint John; loving sisters Marguerite (Earl) MacLeod of Onslow, N.S., Doris (Murray) Connell of Brown’s Flat, Esther McGraw and Lorraine Ward both of Saint John. She will be fondly treasured by many nieces and nephews. Theresa will be remembered with love in the hearts of many. To some people she was one person but to her family she was everything. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by an infant son along with son’s Robert and Eldon whom she loved so much, brothers Albert and Arthur, sister's Agnes Jaillet, Myrtle Jaillet, Gertrude Morrison and Bertha Paisley. The family extends their gratitude to physicians and staff of SJRH Emerg, 4B south, and Palliative for their care and compassion.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation Tuesday, February 28, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Joachim's Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 12 Noon. Interment will be held at a later date.
