Ronald (Ron) George Salmon August 27, 1928 - February 23, 2007 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother and friend, Ronald (Ron) George Salmon. Ron is survived by his wife of 57 years Ruby, daughters Rhona (Neil) Maki, Raelene Hanson, Gail (Dave) Sootheran and grandchildren Terry, Dennis and Karryann (Boyan) Maki, Adam (Ashleigh) and Mark Hanson, and Jay and Leah Sootheran, great grandchildren Tony, Alex, Taylor, Ariel, Alyssa, Adrianne, Aidan, and Isabella. He also had a half brother Rod Salmon and many nieces and nephews. Ron was a loving and dedicated family man. He married his wife Ruby in 1950 and lived with his family in Port Alberni until 1967 when they moved to Kamloops. Ron, always a hard working man, was a heavy duty mechanic and finished his career at Finning Tractor when he retired. Ron was committed to both his family and his community. He had many interests, including fishing, watching WWF, rock hounding, gardening, flea marketing, woodworking and volunteering for Community Policing. He also drove the Cancer van to and from Kelowna and drove for Operation Red Nose. Ron's favorite place on earth was Bella Coola. He took yearly fishing trips there with son-in-law Neil, several grandchildren and many friends. Ron went for coffee with the gang every morning and often prowled garage sales and flea markets for treasures. His biggest passion was woodworking and he was an active member of the Kamloops Woodworking Guild. He spent many hours teaching young children woodwork at the Boys and Girls Club. Most days you would find him in his shop making toys for Christmas Amalgamated and The Royal Inland Hospital Auxiliary. He received awards for his many hours of volunteering.
