SCHOFIELD, Evelyn Irene (nee Henshaw) — On Saturday, February 18, 2012, in the surrounding comfort of family, Irene in her 89th year, passed peacefully into the arms of her loving Saviour. Beloved mother of Robie (Vancouver), Ronald and Maryanne (Naniamo), Vedna Anderson and Bobby Rose (Oshawa), Daniel and Kathe (Brantford), Glenda and Bob Wong (St. Catherines), Bonnie and Weston Stanbridge (Brooklin), Stephen (Ottawa), Ralph and Cecil (both of Grande Prairie, AB), Joanne Hutchinson (Tillsonburg) and the late Christine and David. Loving grandmother of 25 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Born in Nova Scotia into a family of 14 children she leaves behind three brothers Rodney, Earl and Warren and one sister Alice and numerous nieces and nephews who regarded her as a pillar of strength. Predeceased by sisters Alma, Annie and Ida and brothers Joseph, George, Gordon, Sheldon, Paul and Richard. Also predeceased by her husband Ernest Schofield. Irene made many visits back home to Nova Scotia, after moving to Ontario in 1973, to keep the family connection and share her love and laughter which many found inspirational. Special thanks are extended to her niece Frances Henshaw for her loving prayers, calls and visits which brought her great joy in her later years. Funeral Service was held at Ryerson United Church, 842 Main St. E., Hamilton on Thursday, February 23 at 11 a.m. Interment at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
