On Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, Garrett Robert Grace passed away suddenly at his home in Fox Creek, Alta. Garrett was born and raised in New Waterford, N.S.
He moved to Alberta in 2005 to work as a power linesman. In 2008, Garrett moved to Fox Creek, Alta., and became employed at Kodiak Oilfield Services and later on to BP/Apache then eventually Pason Systems.
Garrett touched the lives of many people with his friendly and outgoing personality and great sense of humour. He loved anything that involved being together and sharing a drink and laughter with family and friends. His greatest pleasure was riding his motorcycle with his uncle and friends.
Garrett is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Cheryl (McEachern) Grace of Fox Creek; daughter and pride and joy, Kayla McEachern (Bret Kempert) of Grande Prairie; loving father, Brian Grace Sr. of New Waterford; devoted brother, Jason Grace (Antoinette Lopez) of Fox Creek; special brother, Brian Grace, New Waterford; paternal grandmother, Bernice Kent, New Waterford; father and mother-in-law, Dan and Ruth (White) McEachern, New Waterford; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Garrett was predeceased by his loving mother, Donna (McPhee) Grace, New Waterford, sister, Catherine Nicole, New Waterford, maternal grandparents, James and Florence (Hogan) McPhee.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, March 7, 2012, from 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. The funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Leonard’s Church followed by interment in Mount Carmel Cemetery. All are invited to join the family for a reception at the Army/Navy/Air Force Hall on Smith Street.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Garrett’s memory to the Sydney SPCA or to any animal rescue society.
