CHARLTON June Frances Charlton passed away on April 4, 2007 at the Overlander Extended Care Home. She will be sadly missed by her sons Wally (Judy) of Prince George and Floyd of Kamloops, granddaughters Karen (Dennis) and Cathy, great grandchildren Emma and Parker and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. June was born June Frances Walters on September 6, 1919. She was born and raised at the Circle W Ranch in Deadman's Creek and Walhachin area where they ranched and also had a dude ranch. June and her sister Rita were the first two women in B.C. to hold a big game guide licence. They guided hunters and fishermen to nearby lakes. In 1947 her family moved to Duck Range where she met Bill Charlton, they married, had 2 boys and continued ranching the rest of their lives. She was very active; riding pastures and ranges for the cattle and for neighbours. She was also very successful in horse games and helped all she could with pony clubs and horse events. June was inducted into the B.C. Cowboy Hall of Fame in 2000, which was one of the many highlights of her life. She was a great cook and will be missed by everyone that knew her. A celebration of June's life will be held at Desert Gardens on Sunday, April 15, 2007 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. No flowers by request. Schoening Funeral Service in care of cremation arrangements.
