Gloria Austeen Munroe, 77, of Plaister Mines, Victoria County, passed away at home, March 4, 2012.
Born in Plaister Mines, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Murdock D. Munroe and Annastasia (Mosher) Munroe.
Austeen was a member of the Glenn Valley and Ephraim Scott churches in South Haven.
She lived a very active, although private life, hunting, fishing and farming. She worked as a housekeeper for over 60 years and retired from Victoria County Courthouse in August 2011 after 30 years serve.
Austeen is survived by one sister-in-law, Helen Munroe and a nephew, Hughie Munroe.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Gordon Munroe, Ontario, and Raymond Munroe, Plaister Mines. The funeral will be on Thursday, March 8, 2012, at 2 p.m., at MacAskill Funeral Home, Baddeck, with Rev. Louis Ihasz officiating. Burial at a later date.
Family flowers only by request. Donations may be made to Victoria County Memorial Hospital Foundation.
The family would like to thank Dr. Chow, Dr. Genge and all the nurses at Victoria County Memorial Hospital for their kindness and patience given to Austeen over the years.
Arrangements are under the direction of MacAskill Funeral Home, Baddeck, N.S.
