WALKERVILLE – Ruth Irene Feit, 88, Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of Priestville and Walkerville, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012 in the Villa.
Born in Priestville, the last surviving member of her immediate family, she was a daughter of the late Roderick and Margaret (Cameron) MacDonald.
Ruth worked for many years for Alice and the late Walter Miller and as a clerk for Alex MacDonald Grocery. She was a member of Union Presbyterian Church and the Friendship Group, Thorburn. Ruth was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Normandy Branch No. 34 Ladies Auxiliary, New Glasgow. She enjoyed quilting, knitting and most of all, reading. Ruth loved her family immeasurably and her greatest joy was following the musical, athletic and academic achievements of her great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, who was much loved by her family.
Surviving are her daughters, Carol (David) Campbell, Pictou Landing; Margaret “Margie” (Conrad) Labrosse, Gatineau, Que.; daughter-in-law, Martha Feit (Fabian), Walkerville; grandchildren: Darrell (Rosalind) Feit, Lynn (Jim) Duggan, Craig (Angie) Feit, Donna (Robert) Oliver, Daniel Labrosse and Mario Labrosse; great-grandchildren: Jillian and Jenna Duggan, Heidi and Lindsay Feit, Robert, Christopher and Alex Oliver, Maxium and Emilie Labrosse; sisters-in-law, Jean MacDonald, Riverton and Josie Feit, Thorburn; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Joseph Feit; sons, Charlie “Buddy” Feit and Barry Feit; sisters: Margaret Forbes, Annie Yerxa, Mary Henderson and Jean in childhood; brothers: Henry, George, Edward, William, Albert, Ivan Roderick, Dan, Stanley and a brother Ivan, in infancy.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be in Castle Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Family flowers only. Donations may be made in her memory to Priestville Cemetery Fund or any charity of choice.
