NEW GLASGOW – Mary “Jeanne†Newman, 100 of the Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of High Crest Place, New Glasgow, died Monday, December 7, 2009 in the Manor.
Born in Pictou Landing, NS, she was a daughter of the late George and Annie (Fraser) MacDonald.
Jeanne was a resident of the Glen Haven Manor since March having previously resided at High Crest Place, New Glasgow. She was a member of the First United Church in Trenton. Jeanne was employed at The Evening News in New Glasgow in her younger years going on to work at the Metropolitan Department Store in New Brunswick from where she retired.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by a niece, Sandra Burgess, Fall River.
Predeceased by her husband, Russell Newman, sisters: Lou Greene, Alice Ballantyne and Margaret Urquhart; brothers, Allister and Scott.
Her remains will rest in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow, for visiting Friday from 12 noon until the time of service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Debra Orton officiating. Reception to follow in the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Woodburn Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Jeanne may be made to the Glen Haven Manor.
