Hugh Alexander Stewart of Tracey Street, Glace Bay, passed away March 9, 2012, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Charles and Christina (MacLeod) Stewart.
He was a member of Warden United Church, and for many years worked as a diesel operator in the mine.
Hugh is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Helen (MacLeod) Stewart; daughters, Sandra (Peter) Veenstra and Mary (Janes) Kelloway; grandchildren, William, Kelli, Bethany, Eleanor, Wendi, Tracey, David and Helen; step-grandchildren, Cheryl and Blair; 12 great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Linda Stewart, Gloria Stewart, Diane Kinlock; sisters-in-law, Grace Delaney and Sadie Robinson; brother-in-law, James Robinson and sister-in-law Sadie Robinson
Hugh was predeceased by his first wife, Eleanor (Myles) Stewart, sons, Charles, Hugh and Gregory, sons-in-law, William Snow, Frank Janes, and grandson, Mark Stewart.
Visitation for the late Hugh Stewart was held at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, Monday, March 12 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in Warden United Church on Tuesday, March 13 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Chris Matheson officiating. Burial in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
