Passed away on March 8, 2012, Chesley Parsons, born February 20, 1924, Freshwater, Bell Island. Predeceased by daughter Glenna Lynn in 1989. Leaving to mourn his life's devoted companion and wife of 60 years Doreen (nee Caines); loving son Robert; cherished daughter-in-law Cathy; grandchildren: Robert and Laura and great-grandson Declan living in New Brunswick. Leaving to mourn brother Ted (Ruth); brother -in-law Luther Williams; sister-in-law Lorraine Parsons; brothers-in-law: John Caines (Stella), Michael Caines (Anne); brother-in-law Tom Caines (Barbara); sisters-in-law: Ann Manuel and Gwen Gillam and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Ches was one of 204 Members of the Newfoundland Ranger Force and served until transferred to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police when Newfoundland joined Canada where he retired in 1972 as Staff Sergeant. Service to his country continued for another 10 years with Canada Customs. Ches spent his retirement years in St. Philips where he enjoyed gardening. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John’s on Saturday, March 10th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday, March 11th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A celebration of Chesley's life will be held at St. Philips Anglican Church on Monday, March 12, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined. A private family interment will take place at a later date where Chesley will be laid to rest alongside his daughter at the Anglican Cemetery in St. Philip’s.
