Suddenly but peacefully at the Rev. W.J. Phillips Residence, Alberton, on Saturday, March 10, 2012, of Violet Sofia Fraser, beloved wife of the late Keir E. Fraser, formerly of Northport, P.E.I., in her 93rd year. Veteran of the Second World War.
Born in Brightfield, Alberta, on June 1, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Josephina (nee Kivinimi) Minni. Cherished mother to: Tom, his wife Geraldine of Summerside; Faye, her husband Herbie Ashley of Northport; and James, his wife Carla of Northport. Lovingly remembered by her eight grandchildren: Darrell and Darren Ashley; Andrew, Nicholas and Michael Fraser; and Jenna-Vie, Sherilyn and Robert Fraser. Great-grandmother to: Darcy, Sarah, Laura, Belle, Clair, Jane, and Violet. Dear sister to Herman, of Vancouver, B.C. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law: Mildred (Berton) MacKenzie, Reg (late Levina) Fraser, Elaine (late Charlie) Fraser, Roy (Ruby) Fraser, and June (Fred) Hamill.
She was predeceased by her brother Carl (Amanda), and by sisters Emily (Rudolph) Miller, Hilja (Percy) Osterland, Aili (Arthur) Carlson, Lily (Glen) King, Jean (Roy) Woodword, and Hilda (Bob) Demmeter. She was also predeceased by brothers-and-sisters-in-law: Ralph and Ruth Fraser, Hubert and Greta Fraser, and Stuart and Eleanor Fraser.
Fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews, and by her special friend Melda Millman.
She was a faithful member of the Gordon Memorial United Church, a member of the Tignish Branch #6 of the Royal Canadian Legion and a member of the Ladies Aid of the Western Hospital Alberton.
Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral on Tuesday afternoon from the Gordon Memorial United Church, Alberton, for funeral service at 2 p.m., Rev. Robert Lockhart officiating. Interment in Hillcrest Cemetery, Alberton.
