Reginald Austin Smith
Reginald Austin Smith, age 79, of Springhill, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2009 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre,
Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Hibbert and Nellie (Brown) Smith.
Reg was known throughout the community for the different service stations he operated early on, and finally for his body shop which he owned and operated for the last 30 years.
A loving husband and father, he is survived by a daughter Debbie Smith, Amherst; siblings, Olla Skidmore, Amherst, Lester (Marion), Pictou Co., Alma (Jimmy) Kenney, Halifax, Gloria (David) Chapman, Antigonish and Carol Smith, Lakeville; nieces and nephews, Gary, Richard, David, Doug, Sheri, Scott, Laura Lee, Jenna, Kathy, Shawn, Mark, Michael, Jill and Holly.
He was predeceased by his wife the former, Alice Irene Cox, nephews Ted and Paul.
Arrangements have been entrusted to A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361) where visiting hours will take place on Thursday from 7 to 9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 4, 2009 at 2 pm, Rev. David Lloyd-Pearce officiating. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Springhill. Following the committal, all are invited back to 165 Herrett Rd, Springhill for a time of tea and fellowship.
