The death of Percy Lawrence, age 79, of Nappan, occurred at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Tuesday, December 1, 2009.
Born in Nappan, he was a son of the late Hibbert Pipes and Emily Maud (Grant) Lawrence.
An educationalist, he graduated from Normal School in 1950, Mount Allison in 1968 with BA and received his MEd from Dalhousie in 1970. He enjoyed 30 years in his chosen field, having been teacher, principal and consultant, both in northern Canada and Nova Scotia. Following retirement he returned to his homestead in Nappan, pursuing his sheep farming hobby for 27 years.
Percy is survived by his sister, Joan (Ken) Turner of Nappan, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Amos, Marjorie, Ruth and Hibbert.
At Percy's request his remains have been cremated under the direction of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst. There will be no visitation or memorial service. A private graveside service will be held in the Amherst Cemetery, Archdeacon Glenn Eason officiating. www.furlongjones.ca
