James William McNutt, age 93, of Amherst, formerly of Springhill, passed away peacefully at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center on Wednesday, December 1, 2009.
Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Jacob and Agnes (Price) McNutt.
In his early years, Jim served with the Canadian Army, then worked as a coal miner, but spent the majority of his life working in the woods of Cumberland County as a woodsman. Jim was the only remaining member of the Springhill Fencebusters Baseball team. His favorite past time was caring for his beloved horses.
The last of his immediate family, Jim leaves to mourn a special nephew Jim (Carol Anne) McNutt, Springhill, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Ross, Sam, Doug and Morris and by sisters, Eleanor and Katherine.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the A H Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St., Springhill (902-597-2361). Following cremation, a graveside service will be held in the Hillside Cemetery, Friday, December 4, 2009 at 4 pm. A special thanks to the staff and family at the Victorian Manor where Jim spent his final years and received exceptional care and attention.
